Become a SummerTech Certified Teacher
Two simple requirements. Complete both and earn your certification.
SummerTech Certified Teachers are strong coders and 3D modelers who teach one or two students at a time. If you can explain clearly, stay patient, and care about people, you’re in the right place. Here’s how to qualify.
SummerTech Teaching Experience — 3 Weeks
Complete three weeks in a teaching role at SummerTech:
- Teaching CIT, Junior Teacher, or Senior Teacher
- Weeks can be non-consecutive
- Teaching time must be verified by the SummerTech academic team
- Apply to be a CIT (teaching track)
- Already staff? Pick up Junior/Senior Teacher weeks with your Director
- Already completed? Great! Head to step #2.
TeachForth Volunteer Teaching — 40 Hours
Complete 40 verified hours of one-on-one or small-group volunteer teaching through TeachForth.
What counts:
- Teaching Python, Java, or 3D Modeling to assigned students
- Sessions scheduled and reported through TeachForth
Why Working at SummerTech Matters
Working at SummerTech means joining a culture that puts people first. You’ll teach 1–2 students at a time to develop your skills, build real relationships, and see your impact immediately.
Make a real difference: Help a student finally “get it,” tailor every session, and watch confidence grow.
Grow as an educator fast: Practice daily, get mentor feedback, and sharpen communication, pacing, and clarity.
Build what colleges value: Earn a recognized credential, verified service hours, and a reference you can use on applications.
Practice our core virtues: Empathy, ownership, curiosity, service, and professionalism guide every interaction.
Build real teams: Collaborate with directors and peers to plan events, share students, and support each other—learning leadership and reliability along the way.
Join a supportive community: Work with mentors and peers who care about inclusion and conversation-first teaching.
Teach with structure, not scripts: Use the Coditum Core curriculum and proven lesson patterns while still teaching in your own voice.
Keep momentum year-round: Move between SummerTech, TeachForth volunteering, and Coditum partner opportunities as you grow.

Only teaching CIT weeks count. Your Director will confirm which weeks qualify.
Can past TeachForth hours count?
Yes, if they’re verified by TeachForth.
Should I choose Python or Java?
Start with your stronger language. You can add the other after certification. Most students served by TeachForth are learning Python.
