The SummerTech Overnight Experience
Getting Here
SummerTech is easy to get to on the campus of Purchase College, SUNY at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, NY 10577.
Overnight campers come from all over the area including Westchester County, Upstate NY, all five boroughs of NYC, NJ, CT, PA, and throughout the country and even internationally.
Flying In?
SummerTech is easily accessible from any location. With three major airports in the NYC area (JFK, LGA, and EWR) and Westchester County Airport (HPN) just five minutes away, SummerTech should be a part of your family’s summer plans. With a variety of activities nearby, you can plan your vacation with peace of mind knowing that your child is safe and content at SummerTech while you explore New York City, Upstate New York, the Jersey Shore, and beyond.
SummerTech does not offer transportation.
Check In
For our overnight campers, check-in starts promptly at 2 pm on Sunday. Upon arrival, a friendly SummerTech staff member will guide you and your family to your dormitory. Once you’ve settled and arranged your room, we’ll provide a comprehensive tour of the camp and its amenities. To kick off your adventure with us, we warmly invite you to our 3 pm opening ceremonies. Welcome to the SummerTech experience!

Courses and Activities
Certainly, your one or two-week journey encompasses your primary courses and all activities. From Sunday to Friday, you’ll delve into one main course. You can either continue this in the second week or opt for a new subject. As your first week concludes, you’ll have the liberty to select the course for the following week. Rest assured, you will have a spot reserved for any course you pick. For those doing our two-week experience, legendary SummerTech alumni will offer special and rare Saturday lectures and clinics.
Our days and evenings are peppered with social gatherings, gaming sessions, and outdoor recreational activities. Dive deeper into our daily routine here.
Meals
Overnight campers are treated to three wholesome meals daily from the campus cafeteria. Every morning, campers are gently woken up at 7:30 am and then assemble for a hearty breakfast at the campus dining hall. It ensures they’re energized before diving into their SummerTech adventures! Both lunch and dinner are, naturally, part of the deal. With a vast array of food choices, we’re well-equipped to cater to specific dietary requirements. Our strong rapport with Purchase College’s food services ensures that any special meal needs are met. Please inform us in advance, and we’ll handle the rest!
Evenings and Events
For our overnight campers, the adventure doesn’t end when our day campers depart. They get extended access to the labs for further evening enjoyment, which includes a mix of gaming, events, and exclusive activities tailored just for them. Around 10 pm, it’s time to retreat to the dorms. Campers can either relax in the communal lounges or get some well-deserved rest in their rooms. After all, a new day of excitement awaits!
Weekend
For participants in our two-week program, once the 2 pm closing ceremonies conclude on Friday, weekend campers retreat to the dorms for some relaxation. Dinner is followed by entertaining evening activities in the labs. Saturday is set aside for our exclusive weekend program — a day only our overnight weekend campers get to enjoy. It’s a blend of distinctive learning sessions and engaging events that extend into the evening. Sunday starts with a leisurely brunch, and then it’s back to the labs for more enjoyment. As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of new campers for the upcoming week, your enriching journey carries on!
Health and Safety
At SummerTech, your well-being is our top priority. We always have a Health Director available around the clock to ensure your health needs, from scheduled medications to first-aid, are promptly addressed. We operate under the guidance of the Westchester County Health Department. As directors who are also parents, we deeply understand and emphasize: that your safety and health at SummerTech is paramount to us.
Check Out
On Fridays, for those not staying the weekend, parents of overnight campers should arrive by 1:30 pm to collect their camper’s packed belongings, ready for an easy car transfer. At 2 pm, we’ll commence our closing ceremonies, honoring the achievements of each camper. After celebrating, we’ll part ways until next time.
What to Bring
Here is a packing list of what you should bring to camp.
- Sheets (beds are extra long twins (twin xl) – classic college size)
- Consider a mattress topper – college mattresses, after all 🙂
- Pillow(s) and cases
- 1-2 warm blankets (dorms have AC and can get chilly!)
- Clothing
- T-shirts/shorts/underwear/socks
- Pajamas
- Sweatshirts/sweaters/long pants (for evenings)
- Towels for bathroom use
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)
- Comfortable shoes
- Rain Jacket
- Books
- Hat or baseball cap
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Spending money (for vending machines/convenience store/optional food delivery night – one dollar bills are always best)
- Snacks
- Valuable/fragile items (we can’t be responsible for your belongings)
- Snacks with nuts—we are a nut free camp.
- Juices
Money
Often our overnighters like to use the vending machines or order in food at night when appropriate. We suggest sending them with about $40. Small bills are best for the machines and when kids need to split orders. Rest assured they will be fed plenty – these are just extras.
Laptop
You don’t need one – plenty of great computers in the labs!
Phone/ tablet
You can but it’s up to you
Drawing tablet
No need, we’ve got them!
