The Path to Leadership at SummerTech Starts with Being a Camper
SummerTech’s leadership program isn’t just a job — it’s the result of a journey through our culture of learning, mentorship, and fun. Our best staff members all started as campers, immersed in the unique experience that defines our community. If you want to join our team, your first step is to become a camper.

Take Your Leadership Skills Global with TeachForth
Your journey at SummerTech doesn’t end when camp is over. Through our nonprofit, TeachForth.org, we connect SummerTech-trained leaders with underserved students around the world for 1:1 online coding instruction. Many of our CITs and staff go on to volunteer with TeachForth, sharing their knowledge while building real-world teaching, communication, and leadership experience.
TeachForth was founded by SummerTech, and it carries forward our culture of mentorship, curiosity, and community. Whether you’re helping students in Jamaica, Africa, or right here in the U.S., you’ll be part of a program that changes lives — including your own.

CIT Experience
Our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is your first step into the leadership side of SummerTech. As a CIT, you’ll work alongside experienced staff to learn the art of teaching, event coordination, and camper care — all while reinforcing your own skills.
Eligibility:
To apply for the CIT program, you must have attended SummerTech as a camper for at least one week.
Additional eligibility criteria:
- Must have completed 10th grade
- Must commit to at least two weeks (can do up to six weeks)
- To be a teaching CIT, you must have a recommendation from the SummerTech academic team. Until recommended, you’ll be provided lessons until you reach that point.
Staff Opportunities
From Junior Teacher to Senior Teacher, SummerTech staff members are role models, mentors, and innovators. You’ll inspire campers, guide CITs, and shape the culture that makes SummerTech a unique and welcoming community.
