The SummerTech Leadership Program

SummerTech has designed its teacher development program to be inclusive, challenging, and enormously beneficial to our staff and campers. Most of our teachers come from within our own community through a process of training and experience that makes a difference for the rest of their lives. We invite every SummerTech camper to take on this unique opportunity that has proven results for over two decades.

Senior Teacher

Has completed at least one year of college
Full staff member
Paid position
An instructor in one of our main course subjects
Can advance to Lead Teacher or Director role
Develops and runs electives
Develops and runs activities and events
Must commit to at least four weeks
Must provide two recommendation letters or one rec letter + one prior staff evaluation

Junior Teacher

Has completed at least 11th grade
Full staff member
Has completed CIT position
Paid position
An instructor in one of our main course subjects
Develops and runs electives
Develops and runs activities and events
Must commit to at least two weeks
Must provide two recommendation letters or one rec letter + one prior staff evaluation

CIT (Counselor in Training)

Has completed at least 10th grade
First year as staff member
Full staff member experience
Small fee to participate – read more at the link below
Assigned a mentor for teaching development
Develops and runs electives
Develops and runs activities and events
Must commit to at least two weeks
Must provide two recommendation letters

Intern

Has completed at least 9th grade
Hybrid camper/intern
Must commit to at least two weeks
First week as camper/Second week as intern
Receives all camper benefits, classes, and events
Interns do not teach
Work closely with our directors to learn ins and outs of running camp
Teamwork assignments with fellow Interns
Can develop and run camp events
Cost is full camper tuition
