The SummerTech overnight experience is an amazing addon to your week. It comes with more events and activities, more games, and a little slice of college life. Here’s what to expect when you stay overnight with us.
What to Expect
All day campers will head home by 9:00 pm. For the next hour to hour and a half, overnight campers will remain in the lab playing games and taking part in special overnight-only events. Campers will be upstairs no later than 10:30 pm, and lights out is always at 11:00 pm.
Campers who wish to go to bed earlier can go upstairs to the dorms in the early group. The dorm floors are always supervised by multiple staff members when there are campers upstairs.
Overnighters get to take part in special overnight-only events. These events start at 9:00 pm once all of the commuting campers have gone home. Past events have included gaming tournaments, podcast recordings, sketch nights, capture the flag games, and movie screenings.
Overnighters arrive early on Sundays to move their things into the dorms. Campers can request to share a room with a friend, or they can be placed with another camper of a similar age. Campers are two or three to a room, and every Purchase College dorm room has its own en suite bathroom.
What to Bring
You can expect to want traditional sleep away camp sundries—clothes, linens, toiletries, and so on. Please don’t bring anything expensive or fragile as you are responsible for your personal belongings, and please don’t bring any snacks containing nuts of any kind.
Here is a breakdown of what you should bring to camp.
- 2 sheets (beds are long/deep twin)
- Pillow and cases
- 1-2 warm blankets (dorms have AC and get chilly!)
- Clothing for 1 week
- 1 towel for bathing use
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)
- Comfortable shoes
- Hat or baseball cap
- Spending money (for vending machines/convenience store/optional food delivery night)
- Valuable/fragile items (you are responsible for your belongings)
- Snacks with nuts—we are a nut free camp.
