What to Expect
Check In
Overnight campers will check in on July 2 at 2pm. You and your family members will be escorted to your dorm room by a SummerTech staff member where you will set up your room, receive a tour of camp and our facilities, and join us for our 3pm opening ceremonies. Your SummerTech experience begins!
Accommodations
At SummerTech we have an entire dormitory floor to ourselves where all campers and staff reside. It’s been our home away from home for well over a decade. Here are some highlights of our dorm rooms.
- Two campers per room (limited triples for those who request)
- All rooms have
- Air-conditioning
- Private bathroom and shower
- Bed/mattress
- Desks
- Dressers
- Armoires
Courses and Activities
Of course your two-week experience includes your main courses and all activities. Each Sunday-Friday you will focus in one main course, which you can choose to extend into your second week or you can try something different. When you register we will only ask you to choose your first week’s course. At the end of your first week you can choose your second week’s course. We guarantee a seat in any course you choose.
Sprinkled throughout our days and evenings are social activities, gaming events, and outdoor sports and recreation. You can read more about our daily schedule here.
Meals
Overnight campers receive three meals a day from the campus cafeteria. Campers are awakened at 7:30am each morning and gather for a trip to the campus cafeteria for breakfast. Plenty to eat before we head to the labs to begin your SummerTech day! Lunch and dinner will also be served daily, of course. There are tons of food options and we can accommodate any special food needs. We have a fantastic relationship with the food services at Purchase College and can provide special meals when needed. Just let us know!
Evenings and Events
Overnight campers get extra time in the labs after commuters head home for the night. Here we continue the evening fun of gaming and events, including some special events just for overnighters. Campers will head to the dorms around 10pm each night. Hang out some more in our dorm lounges or head to bed. Rest up, lots of fun ahead!
Weekend
On Friday, July 7, after our 2pm closing ceremonies, weekend campers will head back to the dorms for some R&R before dinner followed by evening fun events back at the labs. On Saturday we have a rare and special day planned that only weekend overnight campers will experience in 2023. The day will consist of unique learning opportunities and fun events well into the evening. On Sunday you’ll get to sleep in a little before brunch. Then we head into the labs for more fun and await new campers arriving for that week. Your experience continues!
Health and Safety
At SummerTech your health and safety are our number one concern. Rest assured that there will be a Health Director on site 24/7 during your stay who can take care of any scheduled medications, first-aid, and your overall wellness. SummerTech is under the purview of Westchester County Health Department. Both SummerTech directors have their own children – we get it and we’ll say it again: Nothing is more important than your health and safety when you’re with us at SummerTech.
Check Out
On Friday, July 14, overnighter’s parents should arrive at 1:30 where you can retrieve your camper’s belongings. Their items will be all packed and ready for you to put them right in the car. Then, at 2pm, we will begin our closing ceremonies to celebrate each camper’s achievements. From there we will say our goodbyes and bid you adieu.
